The Eiffel Tower:

Built for the universal exposition of 1889, the Tour immediately caused controversy because of the unique design and size. The Tour Eiffel is the symbol of Paris and the most visited monument in the entire world. The over-300-meter-high tower designed by August Eiffel counts with three levels. The fist two can be reached by foot while the third is reached by an elevator. The panoramic view of the city that can be appreciated from the top definitely pays for the long wait in line, especially in high season that is required before mounting to the top.

   Montmartre:

The "butte" (hill) located in the northern part of the city has remained a real and authentic village despite the tourist invasion and still conserves the memory of its past as refugee for artists and intellectuals. Those who visit the quarter that can be reached by getting on a rack railway should not stop only at the striking Place du Tertre or the majestic Sacré Coeur. Instead, we highly recommend getting lost inside its little streets without forgetting to go and take a look at the last, and precious, vineyard of Paris .

Versailles:

Witness for a century of the games of power of the French Crown, the Palace of Versailles is usually added to the itinerary of a visit to Paris given that it is only twenty kilometres away from the capital. The majestic complex presents the splendour and luxury that surrounded the French royalty from Louis XIV to Louis XVI, and tells the complicated rituals of a courtesan's life. The immense park that surrounds the Palace is a garden's complex in both French and English styles and it is embellished by fountains, statues, channels and small castles.

Famous People:

Among the famous writers that have found in Paris the source of their inspiration we would like to mention two, famous not only in France but in the entire world: Simone de Beauvoir and Daniel Pennac. Mme De Beauvoir, companion of Jean Paul Sartre, was a successful writer that turned back to Paris after having been around the world and have defended with courage the freedom of expression. Daniel Pennac, a high school teacher of Moroccan origin is the fortunate "papà" of Benjamin Malaussene and his bizarre family. The writers owes to Paris the environment he created for his famous novel, the colourful quarter of Belleville .

   Sports:

Paris is the capital of a nation of passionate athletes and houses many important sport events. The great soccer tradition of the city is displayed in two authentic temples of soccer: the local team -the Paris Saint Germain- plays at the impressive Parc des Princes, while the new Stade the France hosted the glorious finale of the World cup in the year 2000. Another famous sport in the city is tennis. Great matches can be witnessed every year in June when the best players meet at the French Open that takes place at the Roland Garros Stadium. Lastly, the capital hosts an important day for cyclists of the entire world given that the last day of the Tour de France and the opening of the Roubaix take place in the French capital.
